The two Dutch reports De Sixel and De Quadrofoon have been added at “no wind energy”.

Report De Sixel describes a new brass instrument with six valves, activated bij three fingers of the left hand and by three fingers of the right hand. Valve 1 lowers one halve tone. Valve lowers 2 two halve tones. Valve 3 lowers three halve tones, etc. The intonation of the instrument is very pure according to the equal temperature. Playing of the sixel is very simple because only one or no valve has to be pressed for all tones from the low Fis upwards. However, if the valves are combined, it is possible to bridge the gap in between the fundamental tone (or first harmonic) and the low Fis. Therefore the range of the instrument is very much increased downwards compared to a normal brass instrument with three valves.

Report De Quadrofoon describes a new brass instrument with four valves, activated by two fingers of the right hand and by two fingers of the left hand. Valve 1 lowers two halve tones and valve 2 lowers one halve tone, so similar to a normal brass instrument with three valves. Valve 3 of a normal brass instrument is replaced by two valves of which valve 3 lowers two halve tones and valve 4 lowers one halve tone, so similar to valves 1 and 2. The advantages if the quadrofoon are that the purity for low tones is much higher than for a brass instrument with three valves and that no difficult valve combinations exist.

The new KD-note De Basbugel (in Dutch) has been added at the menu “no wind energy”. This note describes a flugel horn to which a fourth piston is added which lowers the tone with a quint. With this fourth piston it is possible to bridge the gap in between the ground tone or first harmonic and the low Fis if special finger settings are used.
