In report KD 615, the VIRYA-0.98 rotor is described. This rotor is an alternative for the VIRYA-1.04 rotor. The VIRYA-1.04 rotor has 7.14 % cambered blades and manufacture of these blades requires a blade press and special tools for twisting. These tools are rather expensive if only one rotor is made. The VIRYA-0.98 has blades for which both sides are bent 15 degrees and no special press is therefore required. The maximum power of the VIRYA-0.98 is somewhat lower because of the lower diameter and lower maximum Cp but the starting behaviour is better because of the larger chord.
